The folks at Caskers sent me a couple of bottles of this one a few weeks ago, and I haven't had a chance to give it a try until now. Read on for my tasting notes.
Nose has strong vermouth smell, combining with malted grain and vanilla.
Nice mouth feel, like a well made Manhattan straight from your favorite bar man.
Front end has nice spice tempered by honey and vanilla, fading into the flavor of a nice kosher rye bread before the finish.
Finishes smoothly to a mellow vanilla with just a hint of sweet vermouth.
If you love rye, or a well made Manhattan you are sure to fall in love with this whiskey. Since both are definitely true of me, this scores pretty high for a non-traditional finished whiskey. 90/100
