Back in June I saw a KickStarter project from a new company in California hoping to make cocktails more approachable in homes across America called Re-Jigger. I sent a couple emails back and forth with their founder, and decided it was an idea I could get behind.
Today I received the completed product for review, and I have to tell you, I think the folks at Home Cocktail Revolution are on to something here. We have all been in a bar and watched bartenders pour great drinks and wondered how they came up with some of their off the wall creations. The Re-Jigger aims to make that creativity more approachable in the home with their unique measuring device. There are commonly accepted ratios in drink mixing that help balance the combination of flavors when done right, and Re-Jigger simply sections off their measuring jigger into these sizes to make pouring a drink dead simple.
There are three chambers to the Re-Jigger, one for the primary liquor, a smaller one for the major flavor, and an even smaller one for the complimenting flavor. In basic cocktails this boils down to liquor/simple syrup/flavor, but can be different flavored liquors as well.
The set comes with a pint glass, the Re-Jigger, and a drink guide for some basic (and more exotic) cocktails to give you a starting point, but with everything being pre-measured it really invites creativity. Here's hoping the company succeeds, and more importantly that home mixologists feel more encouraged to experiment with their own creations.
